OUR FIRST PTF MEETING WAS A HUGE SUCCESS! OUR SAFETY PATROL WAS SWORN IN AND THEY PROUDLY RECEIVED THEIR BADGES, THE STUDENTS FROM PREK-3 ALL THE WAY UP TO GRADE 7 SHOWED OFF THEIR KNOWLEDGE OF THE BIBLE, RULES, AND MATH, AND FOR THE GRANDE FINALE, EVERYONE ENJOYED THE WONDERFUL SPAGHETTI, SALADS, AND DESSERTS. A BIG THANK YOU TO OUR CCS FAMILIES THAT MADE THE EVENING SPECIAL.

THE LABOR DAY WEEKEND IS UPON US AND EVERYONE WILL GET A WELL DESERVED BREAK. REMEMBER SCHOOL WILL BE CLOSED MONDAY. LET’S KEEP IN MIND THOSE WHO WORK SO HARD TO KEEP AMERICA GOING ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO HAVE TO BE ON CALL THIS WEEKEND. PLEASE ALSO REMEMBER THE MEN AND WOMEN WHO ARE SERVING IN THE ARMED FORCES SO THAT WE MAY REMAIN A FREE COUNTRY.

ON THURSDAY EVENING, SEPTEMBER 2nd, CCS WILL HAVE ITS FIRST PTF MEETING AT 6:00 AT THE FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH. EVERY CLASS WILL BE SHARING WHAT THEY HAVE LEARNED ABOUT OBEDIENCE AND GOD’S WORD. THE SAFETY PATROL WILL ALSO BE SWORN IN AT THIS TIME.

EACH FAMILY HAS RECEIVED INFORMATION ON PTF MEMBERSHIP AND DUES. THIS WILL HELP TO COVER THE COST OF THE DINNERS HOSTED BY THE PTF. PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU FILL OUT THE FORM THAT WAS SENT HOME NO LATER THAN TUESDAY, AUGUST 31, 2010.

NEW THIS YEAR IS THE DONATION THEORY. FOR EACH ITEM, THERE IS A SUGGESTED PRICE RANGE. ANY DONATION OVER THE SUGGESTED AMOUNT WILL GO TO THE SCHOOL, THAT’S RIGHT WE GET 100% OF THE PROCEEDS! TODAY, AUGUST 19, 2010 BEGINNING AT 6p.m. WILL BE OPEN HOUSE! THIS IS A WONDERFUL OPPORTUNITY TO REVIEW CLASSROOM PROCEDURES AND CURRICULUM WITH YOUR CHILD’S TEACHER. I CANNOT EXPRESS THE IMPORTANCE OF OPEN HOUSE. THIS NIGHT WILL INFORM YOU OF THE EVENTS THAT WILL BE TAKING PLACE DURING THE COURSE OF THE YEAR AND HOW YOU CAN MAXIMIZE YOUR CHILD’S LEARNING. JOIN US FOR AN EVENING OF INTRIGUE, NOT SO SECRET AGENTS AND CLASSIFIED INFORMATION! WE WILL MEET AT THE CHURCH FOR A COMMUNITY MEETING THEN BE DISMISSED TO THE CLASSROOMS. CIA TOPIC THIS MONTH: OBEDIENCE

Classical Education In Action will focus on obedience this month. Deuteronomy 11:1 says, “You shall love the Lord your God, therefore, and keep his ordinances, and his commandments always.” (NRSV)

Obedience to God first, is the focal point of our lessons. Learning how to obey God’s word lends itself to learning how to obey our parents, teachers, and figures of authority. PreK-K will learn the pledge of Allegiance to the American flag, the Christian flag and the Bible. They will also work on the Ten Commandments.

Grades 1-7 will not only learn the pledges (most students know them), they will do an in depth study of the Ten Commandments, the books of the Bible, and the upper grades (5-7) will also begin their study of Genesis.

Focus on obedience doesn’t stop after the month of August, this is a year long study. Our motto this year will be:

ALWAYS OBEY

RIGHT AWAY

EVERY DAY

IN A CHEERFUL WAY!

FAMILY PICNIC

Tomorrow is our annual Back to School Picnic. The whole school community including relatives and friends are invited to celebrate another school year. This is a great time of fellowship, good food, and meeting the staff and school board members of CCS.

Hot dogs, hamburgers, salads, desserts, (just to name a few) are the featured items on our menu. Individual family pictures will be taken for our school directory and important CIA information will need to be picked up at this time.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone starting at 11:00 a.m.

What a beautiful day for the first day of school. It was great to see our returning families as well as new families. The children came in with smiles (and a few tears) and were warmly greeted by teachers and staff. The whole school assembled around the flag pole and the angelic voices of CCS recited the pledge to our nation’s flag, to the Christian flag and to the Bible. Isn’t that a great way to start a new school year?

As the new school year begins may I remind parents about drop off and pick up procedures.

PreK3 and K will come through the front. Parents park their cars and walk their child into the building. The K students will be escorted out at the end of the day.

PreK4 thru 7 will enter at the back door. Parents will sign in their children and Ms. Sharon will escort students inside. Please use the inside lane. Everyone else can drop their children off and continue on using the outside lane. If you need to come into the building, please park your car by the pole barn. Students will be escorted to cars at the end of the day.

Ask your child(ren) about their first day at school. Continue to be upbeat and encouraging. Tomorrow will be a full day and remember to pack a snack as well as a lunch.
