CCS Administration and Faculty

Mrs. Denise Andrews - Headmistress

Denise Andrews has been teaching for over thirty years.  Prior to that she taught in West Bloomfield, Michigan, teaching middle school English and Social Studies as well as in the elementary school grades two and five.  She began her teaching career in the Cleveland Heights/University Heights School District in Ohio, teaching special needs students as well as grades two through seven.  Mrs. Andrews received her B.A. in Education from Defiance College in Ohio and her M.A. of Education from Marygrove College in Michigan.  She enjoys reading, traveling, gardening, and most recently golfing.  Mrs. Andrews states, “I especially enjoy singing in my church’s choir and spending time with my family.  My mission is to provide numerous opportunities for children to grow spiritually, socially, and academically.  This can be accomplished through homework assignments, long and short term projects, flexible groupings, and meaningful assignments.”

Anita Smith - Administrative Assistant

Anita Smith has held the job of Administrative Assistant at Crossville Christian School for three years.  She states, “I thank God daily for blessing me with this job, and to be able to work with such dedicated Christian teachers and staff.  The students are a pleasure to be with whether it is taking a temp, putting on a Band-Aid, or one of them saying a kind ‘Hello, Ms. Anita’ or ‘Thank you, Ms. Anita,’ that makes my day.”

Aprel Downey - Pre-K4

Aprel has been a part of the Crossville Christian School family for several years now. Her relationship with the school began as a daughter to one of the teachers, changed last year as she became a parent of a Crossville Christian preschooler and now changes once again as she assumes the role of preschool teacher this year.

Aprel graduated from the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida with a Bachelors Degree in Marketing. While living in a southern suburb of Chicago, Aprel taught at an elementary school in the special education department for two years. While there she worked in a small group setting and one-on-one with special education children to help make their curriculum a little easier to understand. Many of you may recognize Aprel as a familiar face around Crossville Christian School. That is more than likely because she spent a great deal of time as a substitute teacher in the preschool department of the school last year.

Being able to work with children everyday is one of the greatest blessings in Aprel’s life. Watching a child finally grasp a tough concept and really understand it is a fantastic thing to witness. There is nothing more fun in life than being surrounded by the laughter and smiles of children every day. Her favorite motto about teaching is the saying “100 years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the type of house I lived in, or the kind of
car I drove, but the world may be different because I was important in the life of a Child”.
